A delegation from the Ministry of Interior attended for the first time the Interpol Information Technology advisory group meeting, held recently at the International Criminal Police Organization’s (Interpol) general headquarters in Lyon, France, with a view to take part in the technical consultations regarding the security systems databases adopted by 167 states, which contain more than 128 million files from different countries in the world.
Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Acting Director General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services at the Ministry of Interior, explained that the UAE has attained a prestigious reputation around the world for constantly developing police and security systems in line with technological advances, affirming that the ministry’s systems are at the forefront of technology in this field.
The ministry’s delegation was headed by Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Nasr Al Tai’e, Head of Electronic Auditing and Information Security Department at the Directorate General of Electronics and Telecommunications Services. The delegation took part in the four-day discussion sessions held by the advisory group, to examine the work mechanism of the Interpol’s security systems, which include 17 different databases including the wanted persons notices, the travel documents database, the wanted vehicles database, as well as the international passports’ security features database.
