Abu Dhabi Police Participates in the Iftar Meals Initiative

The Emergency and Public Safety Department at the Directorate General of Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police, will take part in the Iftar Meals Campaign Project launched by Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation (KBZHF).

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Ibrahim Al Ameri, Head of the Emergency and Public Safety Department, General Directorate of Central Operation, Abu Dhabi Police, stressed that the department’s participation in this project embodies the police’s keenness to take part and interact with community members through various humanitarian and charitable initiatives that serve the community.

He also noted that as part of the participation, training and awareness-raising programs, lectures and practical exercises will be organized at the countrywide level, to educate housewives about first aid tips, such as minor burns, cuts and choking. “This initiative aims to enhance awareness about the necessary first aid procedures that should be learned by  housewives taking part in the Iftar Meals project, and will be carried out under the supervision of a team of women specialized in the field of emergency and public safety,” he noted.

Furthermore, Lieutenant Colonel Al Ameri indicated that the department’s participation last year included raising awareness of housewives in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. “During this edition of the ‘Iftar Meals’ Project, the Emergency and Public Safety Department will implement an integrated awareness-raising program at the countrywide level. The project will include 121 housewives in Abu Dhabi; 84 housewives in Al Ain; 56 housewives in the Western Region; 83 housewives in Dubai; 46 in Ajman; 48 in Sharjah; 10 housewives in Khor Fakkan and Kalba; 23 housewives in Umm Al Quwain; 58 in Ras al Khaimah and 65 in Fujairah,” he said.

Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, Director General of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation, praised the Abu Dhabi Police’s efforts and keenness to participate in the “Iftar Meals” project. Moreover, he said that Abu Dhabi Police is a strategic partner in the various initiatives implemented by Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation.

For her part, Dr. Karima Ibrahim Rafaf, from the Emergency and Public Safety Department and supervisor of the team in charge of training housewives, said that learning the basics of first aid has become an urgent necessity because of the rapid evolution of life, the cultural progress and the widespread development of technology. “All individuals are prone to injuries and accidents at all times and places; this requires quick response and rapid intervention in order to save lives, relieve symptoms or prevent complications and disability,” she noted. She also explained that the team supervising the training operation for housewives as part of the “Iftar Meals” Project, has received an enormous response from participants and showed a high level of first aid culture.

It is worth mentioning that the project was announced at a press conference held on Tuesday evening at the Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, in the presence of representatives of co-sponsors of the “Iftar Meals” project. This project aims to enhance the capacity of Emirati families and allow them to expand their work into permanent projects; as well as to create new projects to increase Emirati families’ income and attract new partners to promote the community cohesion initiative.
