The Ramadan Council of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), hosted by Hamdan karam Al Ka’bi at his house in Fujairah, recommended an environment award to encourage the society to promote environment heritage.
Participants at the council, which was organized by the Law Respect Culture Bureau, the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, under the title United in Prosperity ‘Our Environment Behavior,’ highlighted the importance of energy saving and suggested to set up a TV station to promote UAE environment heritage.
Saeed Mohammed Al Raqbani, former Minister of Agriculture and Special Advisor to HH Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah; Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanim Al Ka’bi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police; Colonel Dr. Ibrahim Ali Al Bloushi, Deputy Chairman of Energy Saving Committee at the Abu Dhabi Police; Dr. Ali Obaid Al Bloushi, Director of Sharjah University- Kalba Branch; Sultan Saif Al Yamahi, member of the Federal National Council (FNC); and Abdulla Mohammed Al Hantoubi, Deputy Director of the Fujairah Municipality; spoke at the Ramadan Council.
Among the participant also were Hamad Karam Al Ka’bi, Cultural Advisor, UAE Embassy, Jordan; Mohammed Karam Al Ka’bi, Director of National Olympic Clubs; Major Enj. Jabir Al Jasmi, Chief of Design Section at the Engineering Projects Departments of the Abu Dhabi Police; and Dr. Iyad Hussein, Environment Planning Engineer, Fujairah Municipality. Top officials, intellectuals and journalists, in addition to Fujairah people, attended the council.
The participant at the council, which was moderated by media personality Hamid Al Zaabi, stressed the role of ministries in protecting sustainable environment and adding a subject to the curriculum that spreads environment respect culture. They also called for raising public awareness on garbage assortment, as well as for more workshops and conferences on environment, while setting future and prospective strategic plans to protect the environment.
The participants also recalled the commendable acts and doughty deeds of the number one man of humanity and environment, the Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who was always interested in consolidating environment heritage, and who promoted environment initiatives in the society.
Furthermore, the participants discussed a number of topics and key notes, such as: energy saving; the role of recycling in the environment; the competitiveness among countries to achieve high ranks on saving the environment. As an example on projects that aim to protect the environment, they highlighted Masdar City and discussed its new laws and regulation, along with means to recycle sewerage water. The Ramadan Council stressed the keenness of the UAE to implement projects that serve the environment and praised the natural reserves (marine and on-land) that protect the environment in the UAE.
