Western Region Police: Drug Control Efforts Yield Tangible Results

Colonel Ojeil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, stressed that the drug control efforts yield positive and concrete results that protect society from the risks of this dangerous problem. Moreover, the police agencies have achieved major development in terms of promoting the training efficiency for workers in this area, and by providing them with the knowledge required to develop their own capacities and achieve progress in confronting the ‘merchants of death’ and their collaborators.

Furthermore, as part of the “They Fooled Me” Campaign, Colonel Al Junaibi, emphasized the need to protect society from the harmful effects of this deadly menace. He also stressed the importance of educating the public in the ways and methods used by drug dealers and addicts to incriminate innocent people in promoting or using drugs - which limit their influence in society. He also highlighted the need to surround people with efforts of awareness and security.

It is noteworthy that the Western Region Police, as part of its participation in the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking celebrations, held an event in the city of Ghayathi under the slogan “They Fooled me.” The event featured cultural activities and awareness exhibition. Furthermore, partners were honored with the participation of governmental bodies and authorities in the Western Region.

Through the awareness raising exhibition, the Directorate tried to educate the public on the effects of this scourge and its impacts on society and users. It also highlighted the methods used by drug dealers to lure their victims.

The ceremony was attended by Colonel Yasser Suhail Al Ameri, Deputy Director of the Western Police Directorate; as well as a number of officers.
