Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Training between ADP and Boston Police

The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Boston Police in the United States in order to strengthen the exchange of information, expertise and training in the field of policing.

A delegation headed by Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of Resources and Support Services at the Ministry of Interior, recently visited the Boston Police in the US and reviewed the latest practical police practices. A number of policing issues of mutual interest, especially in the areas of training were also discussed.

The MoU was signed at the Boston police headquarters in the United States of America by Major General Al Menhali on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Police and by Kevin Buckley, superintendent and Head of   Commissioners in Boston Police on behalf of the US Boston Police.

Major General Al Menhali stressed the ADP’s keenness to strengthen relations with one of the most prestigious police institutions in the world, in response to the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, in order to provide police staff members with advanced knowledge and skills in the areas of training and exchange of information. He pointed out that such agreements will have a positive impact on refining the skills of police staff members and providing them with the latest sciences, global expertise and training in their respective fields of work.

He also underscored the police leadership’s commitment to promote creativity and innovation amongst staff members. “Dedicating attention to human cadres; qualifying young leaders; building a capable and qualified generation that enjoys the knowledge and skills required to serve our beloved country; are the top priorities of the police leadership. They also embody the Government's strategy aimed at empowering the human capital, in the quest to achieve distinguished institutional performance as per the best advanced practices,” he said.

During the visit, Major General Al Menhali was accompanied by Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamesi, Head of the Training Department; Colonel Othman Hajji Al Khoury, Head of the Specialized Qualification Department at Abu Dhabi Police; and a number of officers. The delegation was also accompanied by Major Abdul Aziz Al Sharif, Police Attaché at the UAE Embassy in the United States of America.

On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, the delegation visited the departments and sections of the Boston Police and reviewed the best policing and educational practices adopted therein, the most important achievements, and the measures taken in the operations room. The delegation also reviewed the most important systems and fundamental criteria used to qualify human resources, as well as the innovative and creative training methods.
