The 18th ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2010 (PP-10), currently taking place in Guadalajara – Mexico, has witnessed the successful re-election of the United Arab Emirates for the membership of the ITU Council for the upcoming four years. This endeavor reflects the International Community’s confidence in the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the efficient contributions the UAE has employed during international forums and organizations affiliated with telecommunications and information.
On this occasion, The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is honored to extend their sincere gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, for their continuous support. Furthermore, the TRA offers their appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, for contributing to attaining the re-election of the UAE. Also, the TRA cordially extends their gratefulness to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for their consistent follow up.

The recent period has witnessed extensive efforts undertaken by the Commission with several parties for the optimal setting to participate in the Plenipotentiary Conference (Guadalajara 2010). This stage has also seen significant cooperation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support the UAE candidature file in the membership of the Union Council, where the ministry made high level contacts to get the international support required.”

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been established according to the UAE Federal Law by Decree No. 3 of 2003 – Telecom Law.
