Lieutenant Mohammed Sultan, from the Police Schools Department at Abu Police GHQ, was crowned champion of the “Open Ramadan Gun Shooting Tournament for Officers". The tournament, held at the Shooting Range at the Police Officers Club in Abu Dhabi, was organized by the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police, on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, with the participation of 30 officers from the various police GHQs and departments across the country.
The tournament witnessed a strong competition among all participants, due to the close technical level among participants. The results were as follows: Captain Mohammed Abdullah from the Police Schools Department ranked second; Captain Saif Alwan from Ras El Khaimah Police GHQ ranked third; Major Mohammed Mubarak, from Ajman Police GHQ came in fourth place; and Lieutenant Aref Antar, from Sharjah Police GHQ came in fifth place.
For his part, Colonel Muhammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General Secretariat of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior noted that organizing this tournament comes in line with the attention dedicated by the higher leadership to sports and its keenness to support various aspect of police activities. This, in turn, would enhance the competencies of police personnel and instills the spirit of dedication, loyalty, accuracy, and discipline among them. It also embodies the Police Leadership’s instructions on the need to support the gun shooting sport, being one of the police sports that aim to develop staff members’ skills and raise their efficiency, in one of the most important areas of police qualification and training; along with its significant role in consolidating and developing humanitarian relations between staff members, to achieve cohesion and amity between them.
Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department; Colonel Waleed Salem Al Shamesi, Head of the Police Schools Department; and a number of officers from the Ministry of Interior took part in the tournament.
For his part, First Lieutenant Jamal Issa Al-Saadi, Director of Sports Teams and Competitions of the Sports Section at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, stated: “This tournament is part of the sports activity program organized by the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police. It has received considerable attention and active participation from the various GHQs, which contributed to hone the skills of qualified shooters and enable them to take part in various sports tournaments and competitions.”
It is noteworthy that the quarter finals of the Seven-a-Side Football Tournament will kick off tomorrow evening at the Police Club Stadium in Abu Dhabi. A total of 18 teams representing different departments of the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ and the Ministry of Interior participated in the tournament, organized by the Strategy and Performance Development Department. Participating teams in the tournament are as follows: the Al Ain Police Directorate team; the Traffic and Patrols Directorate team; the Special Tasks Department team ; the Governmental and Diplomatic Facilities Protection Department team; The Western Region Police GHQ team; the Information Security Department team; the Engineering Projects team; and the Operations Department team.
Tonight’s matches are as follows: the Al Ain Team is scheduled to play against Governmental and Diplomatic Facilities Protection Department team; the Western Region Police Team will play against the Engineering Projects Team; the Special Tasks Department Team will play against the Traffic and Patrols Directorate Team; and the Operations Department Team will play against the Information Security Department Team. Winner in these matches will be qualified to enter the Semi finals; scheduled to take place in the middle of this week.
