Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, September 3rd 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The Security Committee for the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2013 completed its final preparations to welcome exhibitors and visitors to the exhibition, which kicks off tomorrow.

The Abu Dhabi Police recently opened an office for issuing certificates of good conduct at the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition 2013 to make it easy for citizens who wish to purchase and license weapons. The office is equipped with computers connected to the criminal system at the Ministry of the Interior and the system for fingerprint identifications of the Emirates Identity Authority that allows for those interested in licensing arms to get their certificates from police stations.

Colonel Hamid Al Aafrit, Director of the Arms and Explosives Department in the General Department of Security and Ports at the Abu Dhabi Police, and Chief of the Security Committee for the Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, stated that the committee had concluded its preliminary procedures before opening the exhibition. The committee held a meeting including all of its members to assess the readiness of the actions taken to receive the exhibition visitors and insurance operations prior to the exhibition’s commencement.

He also said that the number of entrance gates for visitors has increased this year; four gates are allocated for women and one gate is designated for people with special needs.

He pointed out that a service center has been created for customers, and is allocated to respond to all inquiries concerning licensing procedures and relevant technical matters. He added that customer service will distribute brochures and pamphlets to exhibition visitors; this information includes insurance procedures, safety instructions, and guidance.

Moreover, Colonel Al Aafrit noted that the Security Committee has provided a number of specialist officers to extend technical support to citizens. He also stressed the committee’s commitment to complete all transactions and provide an outstanding service in responding to the queries of buyers or to direct them properly to achieve their goals.

Notably, the committee has identified the necessary conditions for licensing weapons: the applicant must be a national of the State and at least 25 years old. The committee also requires applicants to bring a number of identification documents including copies of the following: passport, registration number, identity card, business card, recent personal colored photograph, and a certificate of good conduct. The application must be filled by the applicant himself.
