Private Tutor Harasses Two Students

An Infiltrator Returns After Being Charged With Indecent Assault

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, October 28th 2013

An expatriate father hired a private math tutor, an Egyptian national (A.F.) aged 58 years to tutor his two children. Before the private lessons were concluded, the tutor began kissing the children and feeling the leg of one of the students. Following this indecent behavior, the tutor fled the scene and managed to hide for a few days until the police arrested him.

In a surprising twist, Lieutenant Colonel Jumaa Al Kaabi, Chief of the Homicide Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Investigations Department, revealed that the suspect had been deported from the country a year ago on charges of indecent assault. The suspect succeeded to infiltrate the country again through one of the land border points. He found someone who helped him to work and hide for an entire year.

Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, stressed the need for caution when employing anyone through media channels without investigating his legal status. Furthermore, Al Menhali urged the public to rely on the services of officially licensed facilities to ensure private services in homes.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Al Kaabi, the section received a report in the middle of this month by an Australian father, who hired an Arab teacher that he employed through a newspaper ad to teach his two daughters age (13 and eight years) mathematics. The teacher came to the house while the head of the household was away and stayed for one hour teaching the two students in one of the rooms of the house. The father was surprised by his wife calling him and asking him to return to the house immediately.

“When the complainant arrived home, the teacher was leaving. His wife told him that the suspect molested the two girls during the lesson, kissing them on the mouth and touching the leg of the eldest daughter, who rushed to her mother in tears immediately. The father called the teacher who had already departed the home; he did not answer his phone,” added Al Kaabi.

The Abu Dhabi Police Investigations Department initiated an investigation on places frequented by the suspect and monitored his movements until he was ambushed at the Mohammed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi a few days after the incident.

The suspect tried to escape by impersonating his friend when arrested; he presented the identity card of his friend to the police, but the officers were not fooled. They took him to the police station where he revealed his true identity.

The infiltrator nicknamed “Abou Mazen” denied the father’s allegations during the investigation. However, the police had reason to believe his involvement in this offence. Notably, even if the accused is acquitted of this crime, he will face charges of infiltration, working illegally, and impersonating others.
