The Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters organized an open day to provide juvenile delinquents with equitation and diving courses, and to brief them on volunteer programs and how to deal with disabled people. The open day included different specialized activities for juvenile delinquents that were designed to improve their skills and help them integrate with the community. The juveniles’ parents and a number of experts and volunteers attended the event.

The Family Collaboration Unit at the Al Mafraq Juvenile Care Center recently organized a number of activities at the Skills and Behavior Values Club. They invited inmates’ parents to share the joy of participating in different activities with their children, with the aim of enhancing relations between the juveniles and their families.

The center honored three juveniles who demonstrated adherence to the center’s rules and regulations. This recognition brought happiness to the hearts of the honorees and their families.

A number of experts in the fields of psychology, sociology and education participated in the Open Day. They played a positive role in helping the juvenile delinquents integrate in society and understanding the concept of volunteering and its value. These efforts aim to build a self-sufficient society that appreciate and practice social and charitable work.

Brigadier Ahmed Mohammed Nehkairah Al Mahrami, Head of Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Interior and Chairman of the Juvenile Care Center’s Steering Committee, said: “The center continues to improve its unique process of rehabilitation. It aims to develop the juveniles’ behavior and improve their skills through a program that helps them integrate into society.”

“The center also aims to correct and rehabilitate juveniles according to specialized, advanced programs. These efforts target positive behavior, in order to encourage juveniles to be creative and bring out their talents. The center is keen to train decent, qualified individuals that enter society again with confidence and enthusiasm; individuals that are responsible and giving,” he added.

Brigadier Al Mahrami praised the efforts of parents who played a significant role in the education process. He also extended his gratitude to the experts who supervised the rehabilitation and development of the juveniles’ skills in order to reintegrate them in to their societies.

Furthermore, Brigadier Al Mahrami applauded the efforts of volunteers from the Fakhr Al-Watan Group, whose members participated in the Open Day’s activities. The volunteers worked with effort and hope in order to help the juveniles get over this stage of their lives and integrate into society. These efforts are in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy that aims to develop programs and initiatives that serve all segments of society.

The Open Day activities featured an applied drama performance and two lectures. The first lecture introduced attendees to methods of communicating with disabled people through the use of sign language, while the second discussed the benefits of volunteering. The event also included workshops that taught the juveniles how to decorate cakes, lights and trees. The juveniles were also briefed on basic equestrian skills, in addition to rhetoric, and diving techniques, as well as many other social activities that help them integrate into society.
