527 inspectors from Mawaqef, affiliated with the Department of Transport, have benefited from lectures on crime prevention, organized by the Abu Dhabi Police during the past two years. The lectures are a part of the initiatives prepared by the Crime Prevention Council of the Capital Police Directorate, with the aim of promoting social safety and security sense.
Colonel Ahmed Saif bin Zeitoun Al Muhairi, Acting Director of the Capital Police Directorate, said that these lectures fall in line with the efforts to implement the comprehensive vision of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters. “The lectures are also a part of the ongoing awareness initiatives that are carried out to spread the security culture amongst all segments of society in Abu Dhabi,” he said.
Colonel Al Muhairi stressed the keenness of the Abu Dhabi Police to continue hosting such productive initiatives, which contribute to shedding the light on cooperation and coordination opportunities with the concerned authorities. “These initiatives also serve to promote social participation, and strengthen concerted efforts, as prerequisites to achieving and maintaining security within society.
He explained that social participation is a significant link between the police institution and society and serve the efforts to support the security and stability gains achieved by the country. “The Capital Police Directorate has adopted a number of strategies to support the security process and instill the concept of social participation. The directorate has achieved remarkable success in involving the community in the efforts to protect the security and stability achievements,” he added.
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Rashid Khalaf Al Dhaheri, Director of Al Shabia Police Station, who supervised the awareness lectures, said that security is a societal requirement for all members of society, which needs concerted efforts from all parties to be achieved. He stressed the importance of engaging both community members and institutions in the security process, each within their power and specialization.”The rapid developments taking place in contemporary life have made cooperation between the police institution and community members a compelling need,” he continued.
Colonel Al Dhaheri also noted that the awareness lectures focused on awareness efforts and on identifying, understanding and differentiating responsibilities, to be able to interpret them correctly. The lectures also acquainted participants with the proper tools to anticipate possibilities, as well as detect potential risks and identify their sources, in order to actively eradicate and efficiently overcome them.
In conclusion, Colonel Al Dhaheri highlighted the importance of raising awareness of the target categories on the proper crime prevention methods. He noted that promoting security sense would help people to control security situations, achieve positive results, predict and anticipate risks before they occur, ultimately achieving effective results that serve police work.
