EcoPlanet Bamboo. Be the Change. Design a Tee.

BARRINGTON, Ill - Sunday, August 12th 2012 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- EcoPlanet Bamboo is calling on t-shirt designers and artists around the globe to join EcoPlanet Bamboo. Be the Change. Design a Tee. contest. The contest will open on Monday, August 13th and run up to World Bamboo Day on Tuesday, September 18th with three categories for design:

Bamboo: the Timber of the 21st Century
    Bamboo: Mitigating Climate Change
    Bamboo: Driving Positive Social Change

The potential of bamboo is immense and we want designs to highlight them. Characterized as the next super material, bamboo supplies an ecofriendly alternative to traditional hardwood timbers, alleviating pressure on the world’s tropical forests. It also lends it’s super powers to mitigating climate change by reducing carbon dioxide as much as 30% more than other plants like hardwood forests. EcoPlanet Bamboo’s plantations strategically operate in rural areas where employment opportunities are scarce and the chance for social impact is huge.

Winning designs in each category will receive a $250 cash prize and will be entered into the Grand Prize for “Most Motivational Design.” The Grand Prize winner will be chosen by an online public vote, from Tuesday, September 11th at 9 am EST and close on World Bamboo Day, Tuesday, September 18th, and receive an additional $500 cash prize. In addition, the winning design from each category will receive promotion on EcoPlanet Bamboo’s website, Facebook and Twitter pages.

All three winning designs will be made into t-shirts that will be distributed at EcoPlanet Bamboo’s World Bamboo Day events across the globe on Tuesday, September 18th.
