In light of growing trade and investment flows between Africa and the Middle East, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the COMESA Regional Investment Agency (RIA), will be holding the Africa Global Business Forum 2013 - Dubai-COMESA: Bridging the Continent to the World - on May 1st and 2nd in Dubai.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the Forum will feature high-profile African and UAE speakers, including government ministers and business leaders, who will discuss business prospects in Africa and how Dubai is a bridge between the continent and the rest of the world.

The two-day event will offer a platform to over 2,000 global policy-makers and business representatives, with significant representation from Africa, the GCC, Asia and Europe.

For business leaders, it will be a unique opportunity to participate in interactive discussions with well-known speakers and a chance to meet major players from Africa and Dubai to discuss joint cooperation in the areas of trade, transport, logistics, financial services, agribusiness, and tourism.

H.E. Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber, said the Forum is a unique networking opportunity for organisations looking to do business in Africa and for leaders across the continent seeking access to global markets.

He said: “Africa as an important emerging market and we would like to highlight the opportunities for bilateral investment. Dubai is the ideal gateway for trade and investment flows into and out of the continent and a base for international businesses seeking to enter African markets. The Forum is an opportunity to network with key business leaders from across the continent and here in Dubai.”

Home to seven of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world and with a population of over 1 billion people and a combined GDP of close to US$2 trillion, Africa’s economic growth in recent years has made it a region of international focus.
