ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, April 22nd 2016 [ME NewsWire]
Major General Al Rumaithi emphasized the unrelenting commitment to protect the environment and to educate community members on the need to maintain it for future generations. This approach falls in line with the environment, health and occupational safety system project plan for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as it pursues sustainable development and seeks to reduce the effects of pollution on both humans and the environment.
Adding further, Major General Al Rumaithi said: “Marking this significant event aims to highlight the distinguished pioneering role undertaken by the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ), as a distinguished governmental entity that sets an example for other governmental institutes, especially in relation to social and environmental responsibilities. This participation helps preserve natural resources to support sustainability for future generations.”
Major General Al Rumaithi stressed the importance of concerted efforts amongst world countries to protect the environment and take effective measures to prevent pollution and damage to the environment. He also noted that people around the world dream of a pollution-free world that is safe for both humans and human organisms. “Marking Earth Day is an important step towards increased awareness on the need to preserve the environment,” he continued.
The event was attended Maktoum Ali Al Shareefi, Acting Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Omair Muhammad Al Muhairi, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Brigadier Sheikh Mohammad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director General of Security and Ports Affairs; Brigadier Obeid Salem Rashid Ali Al Habalah Al Ketbi, Director General of Human Resources at Abu Dhabi Police; and Brigadier Saif Hamdan Rashid Al Ka'bi, Deputy Director of Finance and Services, along with a number of officers at Abu Dhabi Police.
It is worth mentioning that Earth Day is an annual event. On this day, events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It is the most important environmental occasion for the United Nations. The theme for 2016 is ‘Trees for the Earth’, in order to shed the light on the importance of trees as a resource that serve the planet in a host of ways; notably combating climate change, and in helping communities achieve long-term economic and environmental sustainability by providing food, energy and income.
