Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, opened the Innovation and Creativity Workshop held at the Decision Making Support Center’s hall in the department’s complex in Abu Dhabi. The opening ceremony was attended by Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services, and Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, along with major officers in the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.
On the sidelines of the workshop, Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi said in a statement: “We worked to create a new generation of young national staff and promising leaders, develop them and help them release their creative potentials. We have taken into consideration the belief that creativity leads to innovation.”
He added: “Creative ideas complement our approach and commitment to promote the culture of quality and excellence in all federal and local sectors. They have become an integral component of our values, and have been reflected in the application of best practices.”
“We always seek to find distinguished leadership while we build our work teams. These leaders are created through experiences, skills, experiments and knowledge, and they lead the work teams ensuring the transference of experiences and interaction among team members to reach the best performance.” he continued.
The workshop was organized by the Decision Making Support Center in cooperation with the Strategy and Performance Development General Directorate represented by the Complaints and Suggestions Department. Two work papers were presented during the workshop; one was presented by Anthony Denatale, Operations Manager at ideasUK, and the other by Paula S. Davis CEO of a US based think-tank.
In his paper, Denatale shed light on the concept of innovation, objectives, and the goals of innovation. He differentiated between innovation, invention, and creativity; defined creative individuals; and described the benefits of innovation on the personal and corporate levels.
Paula S. Davis discussed the concept of innovative events and the principles of innovation and creativity in workplaces, along with the elements through which the journey of innovation begins. She said that this requires making the right decision in order to enable the person to be innovative, and search for the means that would promote his/her work. She also addressed ways to develop the culture of innovation and what leaders should do to support it.
The Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior handed commemorative shields to both the lecturers in recognition of their participation in the event.
