The Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT) welcomed the Netherlands company Web-IQ specialized in online information, into its organization to protect children against online sexual exploitation. The Web-IQ application was approved following a vote by the Board of Directors of the VGT.
Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Chair of the VGT said: “The joining of this prestigious company represents an added value to the objectives that the VGT endeavors to achieve, including building active partnerships with private sector companies to protect children against online sexual abuse.”
He hailed the efforts of Web-IQ in building Intelligence platform VoyagerOne analysing both the open Internet and the Darknet, and working to fight online child abuse material.
He also explained the mechanism of accession of any international police authority or private company to the VGT is subject to strict procedures and criteria. This aims to assess the efficiency of the nominated members and the added value they may bring to the fight against online child sexual abuse.
Eldert van Wijngaarden (Web-IQ CEO) talked about joining VGT: “Behind every image of child abuse online there is a victim; a child being abused by offenders exposing their activities using the Internet. By using our technology to reveal online networks and monitor facts and trends of this phenomenon, Law Enforcement is able to get closer to these offenders. Every offender that is prevented from committing his next offense saves one or more children from abuse. That is what drives us. VGT is cooperation between Law Enforcement and private sector partners who share knowledge and resources in order to be more successful. Cooperate is vitally important in fighting this worldwide, horrific crime and to be successful in our mutual ambition to save children. That is why we are very enthusiastic about joining VGT. Together we will save more children by exposing offenders!”
Web-IQ has built an Intelligence platform Voyager One analysing both the open Internet and the Darknet. After working in Internet businesses for 20 Years, Web-IQ founders saw the increasing harm done by the dark side of the Internet; the growth in Child abuse material on the Web struck them as something that they could take action against. They decided to reach out to Law Enforcement and join forces to help make Cyberspace safer and as a result try to make the world a better place.
It is worth mentioning that the UAE’s instrumental role and its efforts, through its leadership of the VGT, are aimed at protecting children and ensuring their safety, across the Arab World, and the continent of Asia in general. This also will be achieved by involving the largest number of law enforcement agencies within the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT), so as to pursue their policing role, advance business and pilot programs, and mobilize the world public opinion, and religious and awareness-raising civil institutions, in a bid to reinforce concerted efforts in the field child protection against all forms of abuse.”
