Winners to be announced at the Global Educational Supplies & Solutions Conf. March 2 in Dubai
ROSEVILLE, Calif. - Monday, February 1st 2016 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Two of PASCO® Scientific’s science education solutions, the Wireless Spectrometer and Wireless Smart Cart, have been named finalists in the Product Innovation category of the 3rd annual GESS Education Awards (GEA). Sponsored by the Global Educational Supplies & Solutions Conference, the GEA is an annual event to celebrate outstanding success for suppliers and teaching professionals of the education sector throughout the Middle East.
PASCO’s Wireless Spectrometer is the world’s first wireless spectrometer that, with integrated light sources and CCD detector, can measure light intensity, absorbance, transmittance, and fluorescence, and supports a variety of experiments. The PASCO Smart Cart is the ultimate tool for studying kinematics, dynamics and more, with onboard sensors that wirelessly transmit position, velocity, acceleration and force data whether on or off the track.
“Wireless sensors and probes such as those offered by PASCO Scientific facilitate the high level of hands-on experiments that is required in science classrooms today. Rather than just reading textbooks or listening to lectures, students are gaining experience with real world science tools and practices, thus increasing their understanding, as well as their motivation and interest in science,” said Senthil Kugan, general manager of ATLAB Science & Technology based in Dubai. “Across Gulf Coast countries, PASCO’s hands-on, inquiry-based instruction and technology tools are helping to improve students’ mastery of scientific subject matter and reasoning.”
GEA organizers reported that they were “inundated with entries for the awards this year, and it was an unbelievably hard job to create the shortlists.” An esteemed panel of judges comprised of educators, education policy makers and leading academic researchers reviewed the submissions and selected those they believe demonstrate innovation at the highest level, with a way of doing something differently or more effectively. Winners of the various GEA categories will be announced at a gala dinner during the GESS Conference in Dubai on March 2.
