PERTH, Australia & CAPE TOWN, South Africa - Tuesday, September 11th 2012 [ME NewsWire]
(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MiX Telematics, a global leader in driver safety, vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, has today launched its Online Driver Training, an essential component of its broader MiX SafeDrive solution. The web-based application – available in 70 languages – is a hazard perception and defensive driver training application designed to identify, mitigate and manage driver risk. The announcement was made at the SPE/APPEA International Conference on Health, Safety and Environment, which opened its doors today in Perth, Australia, and runs until 13 September 2012. MiX Telematics is exhibiting at Stand 72/73.
“The Online Driver Training application is highly relevant to organisations world-wide, where driving is commonly the most dangerous activity undertaken by employees,” says Alan Hall, Managing Director of MiX Telematics (Middle East and Australasia).
This scenario, he says, is compounded by the fact that 80 to 95%1 of motor accidents are caused by human error. “Helping to boost safety levels where they can is therefore both a wise and responsible move for companies.”
The MiX SafeDrive Online Driver Training application is cost-effective and easy to deploy – with interactive Hazard Perception Evaluation (HPE) as its cornerstone feature. “Evaluations allow us to identify individual training requirements, deliver targeted training modules, and improve driver behaviour as a result. Companies benefit from reduced risk and of course fewer collisions,” says Hall.
The application uses real-life, localised video footage – from 55 countries – that simulates day-to-day driving in participants’ relevant cities and surrounds. The pertinent local content offers an engaging experience that brings about heightened learning, and sustainable improvements in driver behaviour.
Training modules follow modern learning practices and can be completed in less than 20 minutes – the proven attention span for adults. Additional features include a CEO’s message and policy testing, which contribute to creating a culture of corporate ownership and compliance.
