Police Sports Association Discusses Sport Activities Plan for this Season

The Board of Directors of the Police Sports Association held its fourth meeting in 2014 at the Dubai Police Officers Club. The meeting was headed by Major General Mohammed Khalfan Matar Al Rumaithi, Chairman of the Association, and was attended by Major General Mohammed Saeed Al Marri, Deputy Chairman of the Police Sports Association.

In the beginning of his speech, Major General Al Rumaithi expressed his gratitude to Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for his continuous support for various police activities and for the provision of facilities that greatly assist in achieving the desired development.

He also praised the efforts made by all of the officials responsible for the organization of the local tournaments and competitions in the past season. These efforts have led to the substantial progress in the technical levels of individuals and teams in various sports. Major General Al Rumaithi also commended the cooperation and coordination among the police leaders, which has contributed to the development of police-related sports.

Additionally, the President of the Association called upon all of the leaders to continue following the same approach, to increase the rates and levels of care, and to exert more effort in order to raise the level of all police sporting activities. He also highlighted the application of the rewards system for distinguished players who have achieved records during the sports season.

The meeting initially started with the ratification of the records from the third meeting in 2014, which included important recommendations for technical amendments that are to be addressed by the Technical Committee. These recommendations suggested the adoption of a General Regulations Panel for amending the technical and organizational elements of competitions. The meeting also approved the formation of a Competitions Committee, and after the most recent amendment, the adoption of a shooting panel. Additionally, the meeting approved the formation of technical sub-committees related to the development of sports-related activities at the Association during the sports season.

The meeting additionally discussed the developments related to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) established among the UAE Armed Forces, the Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah Sport Councils, and the Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah Educational Councils. It also discussed topics including the methodology of the Police Sports Association regarding sporting participation both within and outside of the UAE, and of the formation of a committee to carry out field visits to the general headquarters and departments of the police. This committee is to be headed by the Chairman of the Association and with the participation of the Deputy Chairman and the Secretary General of the Association. The objective of the committee will be to further advance cooperation and teamwork in order to achieve the designated goals.

Furthermore, the participants reviewed a number of essential topics, most notably: the budget allocated for 2014-2015 season’s sporting activities, the financial support for the general headquarters and departments, and a system of incentives and rewards. In this regard, the meeting also decided to honor those who have made sporting achievements and those who have contributed to the success of last year’s sports season. The Financial Committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, a member of the Association. The meeting also decided not to attend the tennis tournament that had been scheduled in Bahrain.

The Board also approved the formation of the Competitions Committee, which includes the membership of: the Secretary General, the Head of Police Sports Association Department, the Chief of the Sports Activities Section, the Chairman of the Referees Committee, and a specialist from outside of the department.

The meeting was attended by the Board of Directors: Brigadier Saleh Saeed Al Matroushi; Brigadier Ghanem Ahmed Ghanem; Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Association; Colonel Ahmed Al Zayoudi; Lieutenant Colonel Ali Hamid Rashid Al Masibi; Lieutenant Colonel Adnan Rashid Jassem Bu Assebah; Major Issa Mir Abdul Rahman; and Major Ibrahim Hassan.
