The Public Interacts with the “Education Patrol” at FanZone

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, November 2nd 2013 [ME NewsWire]

Visitors to the FanZone Exhibition taking place at the Abu Dhabi Corniche praised the Education Patrol, affiliated to the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate. They also lauded its distinguished performance in traffic-related awareness-raising areas, using modern and developed methods.

The Education Patrol’s participation in the exhibition organized by the Abu Dhabi Police coincides with the awareness campaign launched by the Security Media Department, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior under the slogan “The Road Has its Ethics and Speed has its Track”. It is part of the current preparations ahead of the “Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix,” which will be hosted at Yas Marina Circuit on 1-3 November 2013.

Lt. Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of the Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate reiterated that this participation is in pursuance of the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to boost and promote traffic awareness, given that road safety is everyone's responsibility.

“The Education Patrol is one of the myriad initiatives to raise traffic awareness in Abu Dhabi. It was launched for the first time in early 2012 under the patronage of the police leadership. The main objective was to encourage traffic awareness among families, through field visits to educational and private institutions that have a fleet of means of transports, and houses with fittings,” indicated Al Ameri.

He noted that the patrol provides guidance to motorists and parents on the proper ways to handle children inside vehicles travelling on the road using a contemporary approach, with a view to encourage behavioral methods  to reduce traffic accidents. It also spreads traffic awareness in public and open spaces, by organizing awareness-raising lectures to acquaint the public with the Education Patrol and its quality services, by distributing gifts and brochures.

“The patrol leverages modern means of technology to offer members of the public slideshow presentations using computers, and hands-on applications on seatbelts use. It also provides a practical tutorial show on the proper way to use and install child car seats,” noted Al Ameri. Concluding, he emphasized that the patrol managed to enhance interaction with the various sectors of society to boost traffic awareness and education.
