In line with their unstinting efforts to curtail crime, Abu Dhabi Police managed to prevent a theft attempt that would have claimed the life of an Asian mobile shop owner in Al Musaffah area. The unprecedented achievement was carried out by ADP, who managed to arrest the suspect a few minutes before trying to rob the store, without the knowledge of the victim.

Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Police Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the prompt response of ADP after receiving confidential information helped in proactively preventing the occurrence of the presumed crime.

He said, “In pursuance of its strategy and in line with the Police Leadership’s vision, Abu Dhabi Police endeavors to achieve a safe and secure society, in cooperation with other authorities. They also seek to maintain stability in the country, reduce crimes and contribute to establishing social justice.”

Major General Al Menhali emphasized the importance of enhancing partnerships with various sectors and categories of society; these partnerships are a significant link between the Police institution and society members, and serve the efforts to support the security and stability gains achieved by the country. “The The Crime Prevention Council of the Capital Police Directorate is one of the main aspects of social partnership, and forms an intrinsic part of ADP`s crime prevention system,” he said.

Elaborating on the details of the operation, Colonel Ibrahim Sultan Al Zaabi, Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said, “Acting upon the tip-off, members from the CID Organized Crime Section monitored the perimeter of the targeted store. Soon, they noticed an individual approaching the store cautiously, which confirmed their suspicions.”

Adding further, Colonel Al Zaabi noted: “The CID officers detained the suspect as soon as he entered the store, with intent to commit murder and robbery.  The officers conducted a frisk search of the man, identified as A.A.K, Asian (25 years old), who was found in possession of concealed crime tools, notably two long bladed knives, a rope and rubber gloves.  The police investigation with the suspect is still ongoing.”

Colonel Al Zaabi stressed the keenness of Abu Dhabi Police to keeping a “watchful eye” to enhance the process of security and safety across the UAE, in pursuance of the Police Leadership’s vision, which aims to build a modern police force operating within a scientific and systematic strategic planning. “ADP strives to constantly keep pace of the latest security issues with a view to s proactively and efficiently combat the various crimes, and preventing their occurrence, and to protect community members from any harm,” Colonel Al Zaabi explained.

It is worth mentioning that Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) pursues their unwavering efforts to build strong social partnerships with the community, and to adopt optimal crime prevention policies and strategies, in keeping with its goal to provide UAE citizens, residents and visitors with high-quality services.
