Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, August 12th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police has welcomed as many as 19,640 clients at its various customer service centers and catered to their requirements by processing their different traffic-related transactions throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan. It has also distributed a total of 45,000 Iftar meals to motorists.

Colonel Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief of the Support Services Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, emphasized the keenness of Abu Dhabi Police to improve all services provided to the public, as per the best international quality standards and specifications. He also reiterated the directorate’s commitment to ensure the quick completion of customers’ transactions and to streamline procedures to attain the highest level of customer satisfaction. This is achieved through the distinguished customer service centers, fitted with high quality equipment and service channels, in pursuance of the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy.

Colonel Al Shehhi explained that the Iftar meals distribution initiative that was carried out in partnership with Al Ihsan Charity Association and the Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents, falls within the directorate’s unstinting efforts to upgrade safety and reduce rush hour traffic accidents during Ramadan, under the slogan “Together towards Accident-Free Ramadan”.

Adding further, Colonel Al Shehhi said: “The initiative undertaken by Abu Dhabi Police aims at curbing rush hour accidents that may occur due to over speeding drivers who hurry to make it home on time for iftar, their lack of attention or anxiety about not reaching their destination on time.” He also noted that Al Ihsan Charity Association has cooperated with various traffic-related entities across the country and distributed a total of 200,000 Iftar meals to motorists at the countrywide level.

In conclusion, Colonel Al Shehhi urged motorists to exercise caution; to observe the designated legal speeds on internal and external roads; to make sure they leave sufficient safe distance between vehicles; and to give priority to pedestrians on pedestrian crossings. He also called upon motorists to use seatbelts, to not be distracted by phones while driving, and to pay attention to avoid any unexpected surprises that may lead to serious traffic accidents; stressing the importance of full compliance with Traffic Laws.
