The Medical Staff Use 38 Treatments
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, August 24th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
The Abu Dhabi Police’s First Response Ambulance provided medical care and treatment for 1,346 patients during the past seven months in various regions of Abu Dhabi. Using the latest medical equipment, some cases were treated by medical staff at the site of the accident and were not transferred to a hospital.
Captain Khaled Al Ka'bi, Deputy Chief of the Ambulance Section at the Emergency and Public Safety Department of the General Directorate of Central Operation at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, said, “The medical staff, which are comprised of a doctor and paramedics, are authorized by the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi to use 38 different treatments to treat ‘First Response’ cases. These are the same treatments utilized by hospital emergency rooms, which is a quantum leap for ambulance services.”
He pointed out that in some cases, patients who have not been immediately treated receive first aid and necessary medical care until they are stabilized and transferred to a hospital where they can complete their treatment. He stressed that the prompt provision of first aid helps stabilize the patient’s condition, reduces complications, and facilitates the process of their transfer to the nearest hospital.
He mentioned that the first response vehicle was introduced to the service in 2004, and due to its ability to reach the site of the incident quickly, it reduces the burden on large ambulances. The first response vehicle is able to quickly respond to calls from the Abu Dhabi Police Operations Room, handle injuries before the arrival of the ambulance vehicles, and provide the best medical services, care, and treatments for emergencies.
Captain Al Ka'bi continued, “Ambulance vehicles, including first responders, work non-stop 24 hours-a-day. They swiftly reach the site of accidents to minimize response time and the implications of the injuries- as this is a very important part of work of the emergency department. The department further educates the public and provides all means of knowledge in order to establish the concept of first aid, the role of ambulances in reducing mortality rates and complications arising from accidents and injuries.”
He also pointed out that the government of the UAE is keen on enhancing the quality of life for the community of the UAE through effective communication, transparency, and fairness in the provision of services. “It is a significant challenge to provide outstanding police services for citizens, residents, and visitors. As governmental teams compete to provide the best services to society, the Ministry of Interior, in accordance with the best international standards, seeks to enrich their provided services in order to enhance public trust and increase customer satisfaction,” he said.
Captain Al Ka'bi called upon the public to give-way to ambulance vehicles so that they may be able to quickly reach the site of the accident and arrive within the designated response time. He also urged citizens to avoid their curiosity, as this crowds the accident site. For the sake of the medical staff and patients, he advised to “Cooperate with medical teams during emergency calls, provide accurate locations, and use well-known landmarks. This will help reduce response times, so emergency responders can expeditiously reach the site, provide services with the highest-quality of standards, and reduce complications from the accidents.”
