It also aims to promote the concept of recycling and encourage this practice among community members. This awareness-raising event was organized by the centre in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Police Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department under the slogan “Reduce – Reuse – Sort for Recycling. It featured a number of environment-related competitions in a bid to promote environmental culture and contribute to reducing pollution. Brochures were distributed to staff members, with valuable information about the different methods of sorting waste. A contest was held to select the most beautiful figure made from waste. Some 375 staff members and customers benefited from the outreach campaign, which also focused on acquainting staff members electronically with the services and conducting a survey to assess their satisfaction with the recycling services related to hygiene and pest control.
Colonel Ibrahim Al Shamesi, Deputy Director of Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at Abu Dhabi Police, noted that acquainting the department’s staff members with the waste sorting process is a part of the events organized by the Abu Dhabi Police in the area of environment protection. “These events fall in line with Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department’s objectives, which embody the Ministry of Interior’s vision to develop an environmentally-friendly strategy and green applications, and to standardize environment protection efforts,” added Colonel Al Shamesi.

Adding further, he underlined the center’s keenness to improve the quality of life for community members. Al Bloushi also indicated that inculcating good health practices is a shared responsibility that requires concerted efforts between all authorities and entities in the public and private sectors, in order to achieve a healthy and sustainable environment.
