Under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the State of Qatar, the Minister of transport of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Mr. Jassem Bin Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti, and the Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority, His Excellency Mr. Issa Bin Mohammed Al Mohammadi, inaugurated the 5th edition of the much-awaited Qatar Motor Show 2015 at 6 pm at the Qatar National Convention Centre on Thursday (February 5).
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, His Excellency declared the show open, officials of Qatar Tourism Authority, q.media Events and Fira Barcelona hosted His Excellency with a tour of the premises that cover 15,000 square meters of the venue. His Excellency was also introduced to the exhibitors and spent time with them, enquiring about the brands and their new products being showcased at the 5th edition of the Qatar Motor Show.
Mr. Hamad Al Abdan, Director of Exhibitions, Qatar Tourism Authority, said: “Qatar Motor Show and all other major events happening in Qatar support Qatar as a destination for international events. Considered as one of the premier events worldwide, Qatar Motor Show never ceases to amaze visitors with some major launches by top-notch automotive brands.”
Prior to the official opening, the day was dedicated to VIPs and the local, regional and international media who were taken on a grand tour of the show. The highlight of the tour was the new product launches and reveals by brands such as Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Chevrolet, Honda and Suzuki.
For his part, Mr. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Malki, Chief Enterprise Officer, q.media, said: “The opening day was very well received by the VIPs and the media as they were delighted with the new product launches and reveals for the region. We hope the public, who will be able to visit us from tomorrow, will be equally delighted.”
With over 35 participating automobile brands representing the best of the global industry, the media were given bespoke presentations by the exhibiting brands and the opportunity to discuss the new models and the latest in automobile technology as well as photo-calls. The Commercial Bank of Qatar reputed for its attractive auto-finance packages and the exclusive Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel as well as Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) were present as the official retail bank partner, the official hospitality partner and the official insurance partner of the Qatar Motor Show.
