(BUSINESS WIRE) The GSMA today outlined the first details of the 2016 GSMA Mobile World Congress Shanghai, including confirmed exhibitors and sponsors, as well as a range of programmes and activities taking place at the annual mobile industry event. Under the theme ‘Mobile Is Me’, Mobile World Congress Shanghai will be held 29 June – 1 July 2016 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). The GSMA expects that more than 50,000 attendees, including professionals from across the mobile industry and adjacent sectors as well as consumers, will gather for the 2016 event.

Largest Carbon Neutral Exhibition and Conference in Asia
Mobile World Congress Shanghai has been officially certified by the British Standards Institute as carbon neutral under the international PAS 2060 standard, making it the largest carbon neutral exhibition and conference in Asia. The GSMA implemented a range of measures to reduce emissions for Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2015, resulting in a total remaining carbon footprint of approximately 8,382 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. To compensate for the remaining carbon footprint, the GSMA is supporting a United Nations-certified project in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico that uses methane emissions from a landfill site to produce electricity that is fed into the national grid.
The GSMA also announced that Snail Mobile was the winner of the first Mobile World Congress Shanghai Green Stand Award for its exhibit at the 2015 Mobile World Congress Shanghai.
