Approved the awareness plan and initiatives for the upcoming year

The General Assembly of the Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents convened on Monday at the Mangroves Hotel in Abu Dhabi. During the meeting, attendees approved the board of directors’ report about the achievements and final accounts of the ending fiscal year, the draft budget, and the educational plan for the upcoming year.
Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of "Saaed" Society, emphasized the Society’s commitment to community partnership to prevent traffic accidents, as per the vision of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and President Emeritus of the Society.
Brigadier Eng. Al Harithi tackled the initiatives implemented by the Society to increase the culture of traffic safety via educational lectures and brochures, as well as the Saaed Magazine, which has already published10 issues. He called upon community members to contribute additional volunteer work through the Society, in order to provide traffic safety. He also noted that volunteer work became major criteria for excellence.
During the meeting, Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Executive Director of the Saaed Society, gave an overview of the board of directors’ report about the board’s term of office activities, the new draft budget, and the final accounts of the fiscal year. He also reviewed the awareness projects and initiatives in traffic safety already implemented during 2013-2014, the promotional ideas and projects, as well as the projects to be implemented in 2016, which aim to develop traffic safety volunteer work in order to adopt it as a major component of the efforts to combat the causes of traffic incidents, which may lead to human, economic and social losses and yield negative impacts on all aspects of life.
Colonel Al Ameri pointed to the society’s participations in the Arab Forum for Traffic Safety in Tunisia and the General Assembly of the Arabic Organization for Traffic Safety, in addition to its local efforts to enhance communication with the different society segments, with a view to spread the culture of traffic safety and prevent traffic incidents, which cause deaths and severe injuries as well as economic losses and negative impacts on the society.
During the General Assembly, the Society approved the amendment of three articles (38, 52 and 53) within its Statute, pertaining to reducing membership fees, which would allow citizens and residents to join and take part in volunteer work to prevent traffic accidents. The Society also approved a special recommendation to offer a free membership for students less than 18 years of age.
The Saaed General Assembly praised the awareness achievements accomplished as a part of the strategic partnership with the Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, to spread the traffic culture among drivers in the public and private sectors, educational institutions and public councils in the past two years. 505 lectures and 39 exhibitions were organized, and 83 traffic awareness venues were provided and 20 lectures were held in public councils.
