DTS Delivers First Integration of DTS Neo:X™ Technology to Connected Consumers with Onkyo AV Receivers

Home Theater Receivers Equipped with Multidimensional Audio Technology Bring 3-D Surround Sound Experience to Life

CALABASAS, Calif. - Thursday, June 9th 2011 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- DTS, Inc.(Nasdaq: DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, today announced the industry’s first integration of DTS Neo:X™ technology into Onkyo’s newly released, TX-NR1009home theater receiver. Marking DTS’ significant progress in bringing true 3-D audio to the home, Onkyo’s TX-NR1009 receiver will offer the most expansive upmixing and downmixing channel combinations to enhance the connected consumer’s home theater experience, delivering a fully-immersive and authentic 3-D soundscape.

“Given consumers’ demands for more immersive experiences, it was an obvious move to leverage the benefits of DTS Neo:X technology with our new line of home theater receivers. The partnership is a direct response to our customers who are seeking an augmented sound experience,” said Paul Wasek, national marketing and product planning manager, Onkyo. “The DTS integration not only positions us to exceed consumer expectations with the most flexible and highest-performing receiver on the market, but it also expands on what it means to experience an enveloping soundscape.”

By including DTS Neo:X technology, the Onkyo receiver boasts the highest performance available today in its ability to upmix to 9.2, with height/wide speakers that provide distinct direction clues to ultimately create a natural sound field for an enveloping and lifelike 3-D space. DTS Neo:X is the world’s first 2.0/5.1/6.1/7.1-to- 9.1/11.1 conversion technology within a single algorithm and allows connected consumers to enjoy the music, games and films as they were originally intended to be heard. The height speaker configuration adds a vertical dimension for overhead sounds while the wide speakers provide smooth and seamless tracking of front-to-side sound for the most realistic sound experience.

The Onkyo TX-NR1009 is a 9.2-channel, network-capable home theater receiver that includes several audio and video upgrades. These include Marvell Qdeo™ and IDT's HQV® Vida™ video upscaling and processing circuits. The use of these technologies along with DTS Neo:X allow home theater enthusiasts to tailor their audio experience based on content and personal preferences.

Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer of DTS, Inc., stated, “At DTS we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of cutting-edge audio technology. With the launch of DTS Neo:X, we are excited to see 3-D audio evolve into something tangible as we continue to set a new bar for home theater enthusiasts. This milestone brings our DTS Neo:X surround sound technology to life in high-quality receiver products that will truly transport consumers, engaging their emotions and, ultimately, elevating their entertainment experience.”

The Onkyo TX-NR1009 receiver with DTS Neo:X technology is now available through Onkyo dealers at a suggested retail price of $1,399 USMSRP. For more information on DTS, please visit: www.dts.com. Find us on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/DTS.Inc, or on Twitter @DTS_Inc.
