Major General Khalil Dawood Badran, Director General of Finance and Services at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and Chairman of the Green Applications Higher Committee, said: “Under the directives of Lieutenant General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the Ministry of Interior is keen to take part in protecting the environment, prevent pollution and improve environmental performance across the country, in a way that protects natural resources and supports the sustainability of these resources for the next generations.”
This was part of a statement he issued on the occasion of the Ministry of Interior’s celebration of National Environment Day, which will be officially celebrated tomorrow, February 4th in the UAE. Major General Badran added: “The ministry has always been keen to prepare a series of mechanisms and policies to conserve water, electricity, fuel and paper. The ministry has made major efforts since 2009, when it adopted the Environmental Charter, which reflects its unwavering commitment to protecting the natural environment and providing healthy indoor environments for employees and clients of the ministry.”
He continued: “The ministry has prepared a series of regulations that aim to follow up on environmental issues on a quarterly basis since 2010. The ministry also adopted a green initiative and green strategies and follows up closely on these issues.”
Major General Badran also said: “As part of its efforts to encourage its leaderships and sectors to adopt the best environmentally-conscious solutions, the Ministry of Interior is keen to achieve a ‘nurturing and sustainable environment that improves citizens and residents’ quality of life, in line with the UAE Vision 2021’. The ministry is also adopting green policies and practices to improve environmental performance and reduce resources’ depletion. It has also been encouraging positive practices that improve overall environmental performance across the country and achieve the UAE’s National Green Growth Strategy goals.”
