With 30 hotel openings in the pipeline, Accor Middle East reaches out to existing and potential customers

The Group hosts 12th annual Middle East Road Show across four GCC cities

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, February 27th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Accor Middle East, one of the leading hotel operators in the region, recently staged its annual Middle East Road Show, which is one of the most important events on the Company’s calendar. It provided an opportunity to network with customers and share the progress made over the past year.

This roadshow presented a platform for discussing new opportunities within the travel industry and updating regional travel industry leaders on Accor’s brands, properties, products and offers. This comes in light of the Group’s significant 2013 achievements, which has seen it open 170 hotels with 23,000 rooms, corresponding to one hotel opening every two days.

As per research, the region is experiencing a period of strong growth with current estimates of more than $3 trillion being pumped directly into leisure and tourism and indirectly into supporting infrastructure. By 2020, there will be airport capacity for an extra 300 million passengers, more than 200 new hotels and 100,000 additional rooms. Visitor numbers are expected to reach 150 million, with Expo 2020 accounting to over 25 million visitors in the six months between October 2020 and April 2021.

Speaking at the roadshow, Managing Director of Accor Middle East Christophe Landais said, “These statistics support Accor’s growth strategy in the Middle East where we have 30 hotels in the pipeline over the next three years. 2014 commenced with the opening of Novotel Fujairah, and will see Accor introduction in the Northern Emirates, followed by the launch of ‘Adagio’ - a new brand of apartments-hotel in the region. The first apartments-hotel, Adagio Al Bustan, will open in the first quarter.”

“The roadshow was well attended by hoteliers from Bahrain, Egypt, France, Germany, Jordan, KSA, Morocco, Netherland, Oman, Switzerland, Thailand, UAE and USA. It was held in Jeddah, Riyadh, and for the first time in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where we have strong hotels opening this year”, added Philippe Seguin, Vice President of Sales, Distribution and Marketing Accor Middle East. The workshop involved a series of industry forums, business meetings with major corporate and leisure agencies, as well as presented an opportunity to speak about our newly launched accorhotels.com Arabic website.”

The Accor Middle East network currently includes 60 hotels with over 14,529 rooms (as of 31/12/2013) in the Middle East, and has 30 hotels comprising over 7,000 rooms under development. With a strong lineup of hotel openings in the pipeline, the Group is firmly committed towards achieving its targets of 100 hotels (25,000 rooms) within 3 years for the broader Middle East.
