Abu Dhabi Police concluded the activities of the “Friends of the Police” summer program in Al Ain. The closing ceremony, which was held at the Al Ain Police Officers’ Club, was attended by 80 students, along with a number of officers, parents, and officials from local authorities from the city of Al Ain.
Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Hareb Khamis Al Khaili, Deputy Head of Clubs Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, said, "Children were introduced to their parent's work environment, and their duties in serving and protecting society. They were also encouraged to be creative and innovative.” He added: “The program included multiple events, as well as religious, social, sports, instructional and recreational activities, in addition to visits to police sites and stations, touristic landmarks and service centers;” stressing that all of the club facilities have been prepared for the arrival of the children and provide suitable services to maintain their safety.
Colonel Al Khaili also indicated that the program focused on education and awareness with respect to different and important daily life topics. “Many contests were prepared and prizes were allocated to choose outstanding participants in each activity and event, with a view to promote fair competition and fun among participants,” he continued.
Colonel Al Khaili praised the efforts of the various entities that contributed significantly to the success of the program, namely; the police departments and stations (the Public Relations Department at Al Ain Police Directorate, the Medical Services Section and the Ambulance and Rescue Section. He also hailed the participation of the various social entities, notably Dar Zayed for Family Care; Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC); the Parks and Gardens Department Al Aflaj section; Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club; and Al Ain Farms.
He stressed the need for parents to monitor their children by enrolling them in centers and clubs that provide constructive programs and activities during summer; encouraging them to increase their skills and potential, acquainting them with the appropriate activities for them (especially regarding the use of efficient modern technologies), and encouraging them to visit public places that are age-appropriate. In conclusion, he said that the various police departments will work to ensure comfort and service
Colonel Saif Al Shamesi, Chief of the Cultural and Social Activity Section at the Clubs Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, valued the children's interaction with the program's events and activities, which are designed to help the youth acquire skills that would benefit them in their future life. "Such events and activities also allow children to fill their leisure time with useful religious, cultural and social guidance, as well as recreational and sports activities," he added.
The ceremony, which was presented by student Saeed Abdullah, included poem recitations by student Hassan Al Baloushi; a film screening showcasing the major events prepared by the Public Relations Section at Al Ain Police Directorate; and a traditional "Yolah" dance performance presented by students that participated in the program, led by Coach Youssef Al Raisi from Dar Zayed for Family Care.
Student Shama Al Kuwaiti delivered a speech on behalf of her fellow students who took part in the program, by which she expressed heartfelt gratitude for the police leadership for organizing such events, program and campaigns, which benefit students and enhance their skills and capabilities in their daily life.” At the end of the ceremony, the participating entities were honored, along with the distinguished top achieving students.
