2011 NAB Show

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- At NAB 2011 Thinklogical will launch the new powerful line of Fiber optic router platforms for the Broadcast industry. This new line of HDX Fiber optic routers is designed to meet the needs of the Broadcast industry by providing the performance, resilience and versatility required in pre-production, post-production and broadcast operations.

The HDX series includes the HDX 80 and HDX 576 routers with 4 GBPS of performance for each connection. This allows for flexible configurations of 80x80, 288x288 and up to 576x576 capacities. The HDX family is fully compliant with SMTPE standards and supports blackburst and tri-level synchronization. The router family is also protocol agnostic supporting SDI, HD-SDI (inc. Dual-Link HD-SDI) and 3G to meet a broad range of requirements for today’s and tomorrow’s broadcast environments.

The HDX576 and HDX80 are high performance modular routers and non-blocking matrix switches for complete, end-to-end routing of video. The HDX576 is a 26RU system with built-in power supplies that are redundant, hot-swappable and current sharing. The switch also offers a unique modular design, giving the option for any I/O module to be single mode, multi-mode fiber optics, or electrical I/O modules. The HDX576 is configurable as a fully redundant 288x288 switch in blocks of 16, offering up to 4 swappable switch cards with a passive mid-plane. The HDX80 maintains all the capabilities as the HDX576 in a compact 6RU chassis, which is scalable from 5x5 up to an 80x80 non-blocking optical matrix router.

“We are redefining the role of a router in the broadcast facility. The HDX family utilizes state of the art technology that is configurable with any combination of multi-mode, single mode and coaxial I/O ports supporting both short haul and long haul applications. Additionally, our modular design allows re-clocking at any input including the use of coaxial pluggable modules,” states Kevin Keefe, Vice President of Research and Development at Thinklogical. “The HDX family of optical routing products is truly designed to meet the current and future challenges of broadcast companies. “

The HDX Series are the only optical matrix routers in the marketplace that provides high availability with all of the essential features and functions necessary in mission critical production and broadcast environments. System architecture provides hot-swappable, current sharing power supply modules, a critical component in high up-time environments which typically are supported by more than one power grid as a failover option.

The Thinklogical HDX optical matrix routers are under evaluation with a number of customers globally.
