Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, May 14th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
Dubai
Media City (DMC) and Dubai Studio City (DSC), part of TECOM’s Media
Cluster, yesterday received Patrons of the Arts Awards for their
on-going support to the arts from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin
Rashid Al Maktoum at a ceremony held at the JW Marriott Marquis hotel.
The
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Patrons of the Arts Awards, now
in its 4th edition, honours individuals and organisations who have
contributed towards the growth of the cultural scene in Dubai. The
awards are open for individuals, organisations or government entities
who have made financial or in kind contributions in Dubai through
sustained support to visual arts, performing arts, literature and film
during 2012. The awards, held annually by the Dubai Culture and Arts
Authority, the Emirate’s dedicated Authority for culture, arts and
heritage, champion Dubai’s creative community and pave the way for
artistic work of the highest standard to continue to be created.
Dubai
Media City, the MENA region’s largest hub dedicated to the media
industry, has grown to become a thriving business community, home to
leading international and regional brands including ITP, Thomson Reuters
and MBC. DMC is carrying forward Dubai’s vision of becoming a
knowledge-based economy and driving the growth of Dubai’s cultural and
artistic landscape. DMC is dedicated to supporting local talent and
creativity, and its nomination by the Emirates Youth Orchestra is
testament to this.
Mohammad Abdullah, Managing Director of
TECOM’s Media Cluster, said ‘I am delighted to accept this award on
behalf of Dubai Media City. We are dedicated to supporting the media
industry and the arts in Dubai, and we are honoured to be part of such a
prestigious awards ceremony. DMC will continue to support the industry
and we will do everything we can to continue to promote Dubai as a hub
of artistic and media activity in the years to come.
DSC offers a
world class technical and community infrastructure catering to the
film, TV, radio, production and broadcast industries. Home to global and
regional production companies, DSC aims to establish Dubai as the
region’s epicentre for the production, broadcast and content creation
industries, and was nominated thanks to its continual support to Dubai
International Film Festival. Jamal Al Sharif, Managing Director of DMC
and DSC, received the reward on behalf of DSC.
Jamal Al Sharif
said, ‘I am honoured that DSC has received this prestigious award for
its contribution to the arts and creativity in Dubai. DSC is committed
to supporting talent and promoting Dubai as a premier destination for
the production industry. Through my fortunate position as Managing
Director of DMC and DSC, I will continue to pledge my efforts to
encourage creativity and artistic talent in Dubai.
