Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, December 31st 2013 [ME NewsWire]
The “Police Friends” Program concluded its activities in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The Clubs and Sports Activities Department of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters organized a celebration for a total of 110 male and female students who took part in program’s diverse activities.
Colonel Aref Saif Al Shamesi, Head of Clubs and Sports Activities Department of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, stressed the importance of the program in empowering the young generation with skills that will ultimately benefit them in the future. He pointed that the first semester program focused on training students on horsemanship skills at the Baniyas Equestrian Center, in addition to several sports and recreational activities.
Officers’ children participating in the “Police Friends” Program visited recently the Bou Theib International Village for Endurance at Al Khatm, wher they attended the juniors and Young Riders Endurance Cup organized by the Emirates Heritage Club. They were also acquainted with the history of the village.
For his part, Colonel Hareb Khamis Al Khaili, Deputy Head of Clubs Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ attended the program’s closing ceremony held in Al Ain Police Officers Club, with the participation of 40 female and male students.
Captain Abdullah Al Tawir Al Ameri of the Al Ain Police Officers Club stressed the MoI’s keenness to protect the children from reckless unbecoming behavior and actions during leisure time. “The Program was prepared to acquaint students with their parents’ work environment and nature, and their duties in serving and protecting society. It also aims to encourage students to be creative and innovative,” he said, adding that the program includes multiple events, as well as religious, social, sports, instructional and recreational activities, and visits to police sites and stations.
Al Ameri pointed that the program’s activities were organized to be age-appropriate, for the benefit of all students. Activities for male students were separated from female students’ activities; and all services were provided to maintain the students’ safety.
Captain Al Ameri praised the efforts of the various entities that participated and contributed to the success of the program: the Al Ain Police Directorate (Public Affairs Section); Traffic Institute; the Security Inspection Department (k9); the Police Schools; Dar Zayed for Family Care; Public Institution Zoo & Aquarium in Al Ain; Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority. “This embodies the keenness of national institutions to caring for the country’s youth,” noted Al Ameri.
During the ceremony, which was attended by a number of officers, parents and students, a documentary was screened, shedding light on the various activities of the “Police Friends” Program and the traditional Yola dance show.
