Al Sha’far: Group Weddings Consecrate Social Responsibility
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Friday, January 3rd 2014
Under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior attended the fifth group wedding that includes the participation of 46 grooms from the ministry’s members across the country. The event is organized by the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the Marriage Fund. The group wedding took place at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhabi.
Attending the group wedding were Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services; Abdullah bin Aqueeda Al Muhairi and Dr. Mohammed Youssef Baniyas, members of the Marriage Fund’s Board of Directors. Also present were Colonel Hussein Mahmoud Al Awadhi, Acting Head of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, as well as a number the Ministry of Interior officers, the families and relatives of the grooms and brides.
In his statement marking the occasion, Lt. General Al Sha’far stressed that building a happy family is the best guarantee to enhance security and stability throughout the country. “Group weddings have proven to be an ideal method to cutting the excessive costs of marriage, curtails the extravagance of basic wedding necessities and their negative impacts , in order to rationalize expenditure, to establish stable debt-free families. They are also an ideal opportunity for generations to communicate and to enhance affection and familiarity,” added Lt. Colonel Al Sha’far.
Furthermore, Al Sha’fare stressed that group weddings are important societal issues, which require concerted efforts to encourage marriage amongst UAE citizens. They also represent a social partnership among public and private institutions in the State. “Group weddings are an exemplary noble phenomenon that instills the values of love, cooperation and solidarity for the benefit of community; they are also among the noble objectives of the Islamic faith. Organizing this successful and distinguished initiative for the fifth consecutive year instills the authentic family values in the younger generations of UAE society,” emphasized Al Sha’far.
Al Sha’far reiterated that the fifth group wedding, organized and sponsored by the Ministry of Interior in cooperation with the Marriage Fund, is held under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. It aims to mitigate the burdens suffered by young couples looking to get married, and alleviate the relevant financial costs, in order to build coherent families. “This gesture embodies the Ministry of Interior’s true spirit of societal partnership and its humanitarian contributions, to alleviate difficulties impeding young citizens from establishing coherent families capable of catering for the upbringing of future generations,” indicated Al Sha’far.
In conclusion, Al Sha’far congratulated the newlyweds, wishing them a happy life. He also called on them to use this day as the platform for a new social life, based on mutual respect, good relations, and mutual understanding. He urged them to shoulder the responsibility, in order to achieve a stable family life, and turn the family into a social institution capable of leading roles in society.
For his part, Abdullah bin Aqueeda Al Muhairi, member of the Marriage Fund’s Board of Directors delivered a speech in this occasion. He stressed that the group wedding organized by the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Marriage Fund, reflects the true spirit of community partnership amongst all State institutions, and affirms the humanitarian orientation and civilized contributions of the MoI towards all social aspects.
He also added that the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of group weddings is in pursuance of the path first walked by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It also embodies the wise leadership’s directives to mitigate the burdens suffered by young Emirati couples looking to get married, and alleviate the relevant financial costs, in order to build a stable and consolidated society.
“The Marriage Fund dedicates great attention to supporting group weddings, with a view to help young Emiratis overcome obstacles and alleviate financial costs of weddings,” indicated Al Muhairi. Moreover, he called upon brides and grooms to use this occasion to start new social life, based on mutual respect, good relations, and mutual understanding, for the sake of building a stable family life, capable of participating in developmental processes underway in the social, educational and economic fields countrywide.
The Police Music Band performed a number of local and heritage music pieces, and the military band also presented folk dances inspired by the occasion.
