Four-month programme designed to build STC’s future leadership and strengthen employees’ knowledge of Comptel’s products

HELSINKI - Monday, March 2nd 2015 [ME NewsWire]

Mobile World Congress 2015

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Comptel Corporation (NASDAQ OMX Helsinki: CTL1V) and Saudi Telecom Company (STC) have launched a programme to develop the next generation of IT talent in Saudi Arabia. The initiative is designed to not only educate young Saudi professionals on telecommunications networks and Comptel’s Intelligent Data & Service Orchestration technologies, but also enable them for future leadership positions within STC.

“STC strives to consistently undertake projects that further education and professional development within our society, and that support our most important assets – our employees. Our new Young IT Talent initiative will allow us to achieve both of these objectives,” said Mr. Abdullah Al Owini, General Manager, Customer Enablement Applications, STC.

“Comptel was a natural partner to help us roll out the programme given our long-standing relationship and the important role Comptel technology plays to enable our business,” added Mr. Younes Al Suhaibani, Director, IT Integration Applications, STC.

The Young IT Talent programme, which consists of four modules over four months, gives recent Saudi university graduates extensive coaching on their new roles at STC. It covers everything from presentation, communication and technical writing skills development, specialised programming languages courses, to best-of-breed telecom solution development. Participants are offered on-the-job coaching outside of Riyadh in Comptel’s key research and development centres in Helsinki, Finland and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, providing them international business mentoring and an understanding of different cultural perspectives.

“Comptel is pleased to collaborate with STC and maintain our customer’s commitment to nurturing young Saudi talents,” said Mr. Teo-Tuomas Hirvonen, Vice President, Strategic Accounts, Comptel. “Our joint programme sets up both new employees and STC for success – this competency development initiative will help ensure software delivery and development best practices, reduce time-to-market, optimise costs and resource utilisation, as well as empower future leadership.”
