The Media and the Public Relations Section at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs Sector marked the World Book Day with a book fair under the theme “Read and Progress”. The event was held at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs’ building, with participation of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, and a number of publishing houses in Abu Dhabi.
During the official inauguration ceremony, Brigadier Ghareeb Al Hosani, Director General of Ports and Airports toured the various sections of the fair and reviewed the books on display and the latest book editions published in the UAE, as well as books on leadership, management and human sciences. Brigadier Al Hosani stressed the importance of cultivating love for literature among staff members of the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Sector and community members to enrich their cultural and intellectual wealth. .
For his part, Colonel Taleb Al Mahmoud, Chief of the Media and Public Relations Section at the sector, said that the fair comes in line with the societal and educational events organized for the sake of staff members. “Such events highlight the attention dedicated by the Ministry of Interior to spreading the culture of reading and intellectual enrichment amongst its staff members,” noted Colonel Al Mahmoud. Moreover, he added that developing cognitive, personal and intellectual abilities is achieved with reading to enhance knowledge; calling upon all staff members to read extensively and get informed to enhance knowledge.
The opening ceremony of the book fair was attended by Colonel Mohammed Ali bin Wadeema Al Ameri, Acting Director General of Resources and Support Services; Colonel Taleb Abdul Karim Al Mahmoud, Chief of the Media and Public Relations Section; as well as a number of officers from the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Sector. It is worth mentioning that the fair is part of the activities organized by the Media and Public Relations Section for 2015, and falls in line with the section’s strategic initiatives.
