Over 1000 employees of Aster Medcity pledge to donate organs

    More than 3000 delegates from India and aboard witness the momentous event at Aster Medcity
    Over one thousand Asterites take a pledge to donate their organs
    Formally inaugurates three Centers of Excellence in Cardiology, Neurology and Nephrology & Urology
    Becomes the first hospital in Kerala and the second in India to receive the Green Operation Theatre Certificate from Bureau Veritas India (BVQI). Aster Medcity is also the first hospital in India to receive the Award For Excellence In Nursing from NABH

It was a moment of fulfillment for Dr Azad Moopen, Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare, when his dream project Aster Medcity in Kochi, Kerala was dedicated to the nation by the Honorable Former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

Also present at the event were prominent dignitaries -  Sri Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala; His Excellency Haji Essa Al Maidoor – Director General; Dubai Health Authority, Government of Dubai; Shri Hussain Rasheed - Minister of State for Health – Maldives; Mr. Nassar Khalifa Al Budhoor – Asst Minister of State for Health; Under Secretary – Ministry of Health, Abu Dhabi; Dr. Nambukara Helambage Rajitha Harischandra – Health Minister, Sri Lanka, Shri K M Mani – State Minister for Finance, P. Rajeev - Former MP, A N Radhakrishnan – BJP State General Secretary, Shri U T Khader – Health Minister, State of Karnataka.

More than 3000 guests including, National and International dignitaries and statesmen gathered at the event hosted within the Aster Medcity campus. To mark this special occasion, the Aster Medcity family, under the leadership of Dr. Azad Moopen, pledged to donate their organs to sustain life and be of service to the community.

Speaking at the event, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam said, “I have granted my support and admiration for the technological developments that I see in India across various sectors. Being at Aster Medcity, I realize that the healthcare services in India are certainly progressing towards achieving technological expertise and experience. It is surely a destination for advanced healthcare services. The most important element is to provide better accessibility and I am happy to note that organizations like Aster DM Healthcare are doing their bit by providing quality and accessible healthcare.”

The Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Oommen Chandy said, “Kerala has always been known for its traditional healthcare services. With Aster Medcity, the State has a new facility that it can be proud of – especially in terms of its technological advantages – this will certainly be a landmark. The infrastructure and the facility is certainly a new landmark in Kerala. The cost effective services along with connectivity from roadways, airways and waterways, makes this place accessible for all.”

Envisaged as a comprehensive medical township, the first phase of Aster Medcity has one Multispecialty Hospital and eight separate Centres of Excellence (COEs). Three key COEs will be inaugurated on the same day - Cardio Sciences, Neurosciences and Nephrology & Urology. The other COEs at Aster Medcity include Oncology, Orthopaedics & Rheumatology, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Women’s Health and Child & Adolescent Health.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Moopen said, “This is a significant milestone in the Aster DM Healthcare journey of providing healthcare services in India and abroad. What started as a dream project that was nurtured deep within has now turned into a reality. The event concluded with a gratifying moment of social commitment by Aster Medcity- this hospital is committed to providing free insurance to 2500 BPL families in the Cheranalloor Village Panchayat, which will translate to medical insurance for around 10,000 people. Around 1000 Asterites took a pledge to donate their organs. Dr. Azad Moopen read out the pledge for the Aster family.
