Saif Bin Zayed Approves MoI’s Environment, Health and Occupational Safety Policy

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior approved the Ministry of Interior’s general policy with respect to environment, health and occupational safety. This Policy is in pursuance of the Federal Government’s directives to implement the environment, health and occupational safety requirements.

Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior noted that the Ministry of Interior is fully committed to deliver its services in a safe and responsible way towards the environment and to guarantee the health, safety and welfare of its employees and customers, as well as its partners, clients and community members who may be affected by its actions. Moreover, the Ministry is committed to constantly develop its environmental performance.

Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, at the Ministry of Interior indicated that the environment health and occupational safety policy’s objectives focus on spreading the Ministry of Interior’s policy and objectives among all employees, customers, partners, clients, and community member. He also pointed out that the policy is in compliance with the environment, health and safety guidelines in the State, and is keen to manage environment, health and occupational safety incidents, by notifying the concerned authorities after verification.

“The Ministry is engaged to guarantee high-quality and effective consultative procedures about environment, health and occupational safety with all employees. This can be achieved through cooperation and shared responsibility between individuals and government and private sectors in the State; to reduce environmental pollution as much as possible provide adequate training and information to maintain awareness on environment, health and occupational safety issues at all levels within the Ministry of Interior,” indicated Colonel Al Dhaheri.

On the same note, he stressed that the Ministry endeavors to identify goals and objectives elated to environment, health and occupational safety, in line with the Government’s objectives; and to determine and reduce risks on all aspects of environment, health and occupational safety. It also aims at preserving biological diversity; integrating environmental systems within the decision-making process, evaluating employees’ performance with respect to the environment, health and occupational safety; and reporting it, in order to develop and enhance performance.

For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Saeed Matar Al Suraidi, Head of Quality Department, at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development stated: “Through the general policy on environment, health and occupational safety, the Ministry of Interior aims to reduce the negative environmental impacts of its actions and activities.  It also seeks to be a forerunner in sustainable environmental best practices; and to carry out its operations responsibly; in a way commensurate with its vision, as per the environment, health and occupational safety laws”.
