A number of anti-narcotics officers from across the country were introduced to the methods used to promote drugs online. They participated in a training course organized by the Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate General at the Ministry of Interior. The course, titled “New Synthetic Drugs,” was carried out in cooperation with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The one-week course was held at the Federal Police School in Sharjah; a number of anti-narcotics officers from across GCC countries participated in the course.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to improve its employees’ knowledge on modern challenges. The course introduced the officers to the different types of synthetic drugs across the world, as well as their chemical components, the risks associated with them, and their devastating impacts on human health.

Experts explained how to detect such drugs, and introduced the participants to detection devices that can help employees at border points detect any unidentified substances they may encounter.

Lecturers made examples out of real drug cases that took place in the US. They explained the operations and investigations, as well as the means used by the DEA to take down all targeted gang members and hand them over to justice in a professional manner.

Colonel Saeed Al Suwaidi, Director General, Anti-Narcotics Federal Directorate General, stressed the directorate general’s efforts to carry out the best, most advanced training courses on fighting drugs, emphasizing its complete readiness combat such crimes.

He extended gratitude to the DEA for their continuous cooperation on training, as well as to the Federal Police School for their efficient participation leading to the course’s success.
