UAESRT to Chair GCC and Jordan SAR Development Committee

During a meeting held recently in Netherlands for Search and Rescue Teams, participants agreed that the UAE Search and Rescue Team (UAESRT) will chair the GCC and Jordan Search and Rescue (SAR) Teams Development Committee.

Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations in Abu Dhabi Police commended this choice. He also praised the direct follow-up of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who supported the team to attain this advanced level and achieve a distinguished renown. This philosophy strengthens the State’s prominent position on the international scene, in pursuance of the Government’s aspirations and strategy, to rank among the best five governments in the world.

The appointment was announced by Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, Head of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, and Field Liaison officer between the Ministry of Interior and the UN for handling disasters. Al Ansari’s statement was made during the meeting of the heads of the International Search and Rescue Teams, which was attended by representatives of 60 international rescue teams.

Al Ansari lauded his colleagues in GCC Countries and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, for voting on UAESRT election.  Furthermore, Head of the UAE Search and Rescue Team asserted that the decision made by the Netherlands meeting’s attendees reflects a confidence in the prominent status attained by the UAE Search and Rescue Team, thanks to the support and attention of the police leadership.

“The UAE Search and Rescue Team will build on this recommendation to set up a three-year short-term strategic plan for development, and prepare a mechanism for joint drills between the Committee’s Member States. This would allow the exchange of experiences and improve regional and international response in this regard,” concluded Lieutenant Colonel Al Ansari.
