The Forensic Evidence Department at the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police released the 10th edition of the “Forensic Evidence Magazine”, which features a number of scientific topics in the field of forensic science.
In his editorial, Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, tackled the importance of human beings and the need to continuously seek to educate the mind and soul through knowledge and to reflect on the Kingdom of Allah by reading the Holy Quran. He explained that these measures were implemented at the Forensic Evidence Department; where inaugural plans have kicked off at the Knowledge Department, such as organizing lectures on various disciplines and establishing a number of databases.
Under the “Visions” section, Colonel Hassan Al Hosani, Deputy Director of the Forensic Evidence Department, wrote about the achievements made by the department. He highlighted the department’s duties and various services it provides to fulfill the needs of customers and partners alike. This has required providing modern scientific equipment and achieving excellence in performance, ultimately allowing the department to achieve a zero error rate.
The magazine also included articles and research studies such as the forensic material engineering; DNA contamination: dangers and means of prevention; crime scene, physical effects, crime scene processing; technical mechanisms for matching and analysis of handwriting samples; and (“Mobile Phone Forensics… Where are we now?”)
The “Forensic Evidence Magazine” edition also featured articles about DNA characteristics; types of firearms; forensic facial reconstruction; industrial security for the prevention of industrial accidents; and integration between the crime scene and the forensic laboratory.
