Bringing Cheer to the Elderly: HARTMANN Eid Celebrations at Old People's Home

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, August 6th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

PAUL HARTMANN Middle East, in partnership with Gulf Drug, organized a special event to celebrate Eid Ul Fitr at the Old People's Home in Sharjah, as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.

The Old People's Home is a centre that functions under the supervision and guidance of the Social Services Department of Sharjah Government. It was established in 1986 to support elderly people aged 60 years and above.

Aside from a comfortable home, the centre receives food, clothing and hospitalization support from the Government of Sharjah. Currently, the centre has around 30 senior citizens and a dedicated staff to keep it operational.

PAUL HARTMANN Middle East organized these Eid celebrations at the centre with the help and encouragement of Sharifa Al Ali, Head of Executive Affairs Section, and Mansour Mohammed Haji, from its Public Relations department.

The event brought together the residents of the centre, their caregivers and support staff in a huge and cheerful feast that symbolised the spirit of sharing, which is the overriding spiritual theme of the holy month of Ramadan. The event had a festive yet solemn feel. Some of the elderly people spoke with and shared meaningful moments with the guests. They also shared some nuggets of wisdom about life in general.

Mr. Alexander Burger, Managing Director of PAUL HARTMANN Middle East, emphasized during the event the company's mission to help patients and caregivers manage health more conveniently and effectively. He added that it is for these reasons that the company is always in the forefront of CSR activities.

As part of HARTMANN's commitment to supporting the elderly people at the centre, HARTMANN provided MoliCare Mobile Incontinence pants to assist them with their Incontinence problems. Incontinence is increasingly being acknowledged as a problem that many elderly persons face. It can be easily managed, though many still consider incontinence a taboo topic in several cultures, despite the progressive pace of today’s world.
