Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, October 4th 2014 [ME NewsWire]The MoI’s Child Protection Center called upon parents and members of the public to remain cautious and to protect children from potential dangers they may encounter during Eid Al-Adha holidays. The center also invited the public to abide by prevention and safety requirements at the various touristic sites such as gardens, amusement parks, beaches, markets and malls during the holiday, in addition to other locations that are expected to witness a high density of visitors.
Elaborating on the subject, Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior stressed the keenness of the UAE government to provide high-quality living for the Emirati society. “The UAE government is committed to implementing its vision of becoming the safest and most secure country in the world, and a leading model of child protection. This approach embodies the attention dedicated by Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to make the UAE a regional role model for its efforts to promote protection and security of children”
Adding further, he said, "The Ministry of Interior is exerting tremendous efforts to provide distinguished services according to the best international standards to enhance the public's trust and increase their satisfaction. The ministry is also making unstinting efforts to promote protection and security of children, by enhancing community members’ awareness about security and safety requirements, and supporting efforts aimed at protecting children against potential challenges and risks. These efforts are complemented by boosting family awareness among all social categories regarding the family's instrumental and valuable role, being the nucleus of society."
For his part, Major Dr. Mohammed Khalifa Al Ali, Director of the Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Center, called upon parents and care-takers to take the necessary measures to prevent children from getting lost and to protect them against accidents or other dangers when playing in the streets unattended. He also stressed the need to maintain children safety against possible abuse they may face when using public restrooms at malls and parks, or against abduction. "Children are a responsibility and we are bound to protect them out of harm’s way," he added; emphasizing that all police and security bodies are intensifying their efforts to enhance security and safety at the various public locations.
He explained that law binds parents to take care of their children and double the efforts to protect them against risks they may be unaware of at their age. “Neglecting children or leaving them unattended is subject to legal accountability,” he noted.
Major Al Ali said urged parents and care-takers to make sure to provide all prevention and safety requirements around their homes and their children’s play areas, in a bid to ensure their safety from potential accidents, particularly against the dangers of fireworks, which could mar the joy of the blessed occasion." He also stressed the need for parents to remain vigilant and stay close to their children at all times, to remind them to respect others and their rights, as well as to have good manners and ethics.
He urged parents not to hesitate to communicate with police stations when necessary by calling the emergency call center on 999; noting that police is constantly ready to receive calls from the public and to provide them with assistance and support.
