TRA Holds Preparatory Workshops for Upcoming (WRC) and (CPM) Events

As a part of its intensive preparations for the upcoming World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC), the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) held a series of workshops between 23-27 January, 2011 to help familiarize all the participants with the 2012 (WRC) and the Radiocommunication sector framework.

The workshops have been designed to raise awareness for the TRA governmental and non-governmental partner’s.An important aspect of this preparation has been the involvement and contributions of the National WRC Committee Members. The workshops have witnessed participation from UAE Armed Forces, Abu Dhabi Police, Ministry of Interior, General Civil Aviation Authority, Etisalat, du, Thuraya, the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) Khalifa University, American University and Ajman University.

H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General said: “The UAE has made many efficient contributions during international forums and organizations affiliated with telecommunications and information. Currently, and thanks to our effective participations in the past, the country enjoys good reputation in the ITU and its subsidiary bodies.”

Engineer Tariq Al Awadhi, Executive Director of the Spectrum Management and International Affairs in (TRA) said: “The workshops are intended to help participants get familiarized with the ITU-R Framework and to assist them in contributing effectively during the upcoming ITU-R meetings, CPM and WRC.”

“We believe that the good quality preparation is vital, in case we intend to remain at the forefront of ICT sector regionally and globally.” Added Al Awadhi.
