The "Special Tasks" Team Wins ADP Seven-a-Side Football Tournament

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, August 4th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
The Directorate General of Guards and Special Tasks team of the Abu Dhabi Police was crowned champion of the seven-a-side football tournament organized by the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police. The winning team defeated the Central Operations team scoring two goals against one in the final match that took place at the Police Club Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In the matches for the third and fourth place, the Government & Diplomatic Establishment Protection Department team won against the Western Region police Directorate team with a score of two to zero. The Central Operations Team came in second place and the Government & Diplomatic Establishment Protection Department team came in third.
Eighteen teams, representing different departments of the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and the Ministry of the Interior, participated in the tournament.
The closing of the tournament was attended by Brigadier Ismail Al Sirkal, Deputy Director General of Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations; Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Colonel Anwar Al Mulla, Head of ICT Department; Colonel Waleed Salem Al Shamsi, Director of Police Schools Department; Major Mohammed Al Falahi, Head of Sports Activity Section at the Strategy and Performance Development Department at Abu Dhabi Police; and First Lieutenant Jamal Issa Al-Saadi, Director of Sports Teams and Competitions of the Sports Section at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, in addition to members of the organizing committee, officials of the participating teams, and a number of officers at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.
Colonel Al Dhaheri congratulated the Special Tasks team on the occasion of winning the tournament, stressing that it is a worthy achievement. He also praised the Central Operations team’s high technical level pointing out that both teams gave a very good performance for which they deserve appreciation and he wished them the best of luck for the next tournament.
He said that the organization of this tournament is in accordance with the directives of the police leadership and its belief in the role of sports in the preparation of an integrated police character. Sport also has a significant role in raising self-confidence and reinforcing the principle of fair competition among all workers at Abu Dhabi Police.
He added that the tournament achieved its main objective, which is fraternal communication, fostering  love and unity, promoting confidence in the capabilities of others, and establishing common rules for more fraternal cooperation among workers at Abu Dhabi Police.
Concluding, Brigadier Al Sirkal and Colonel Al Dhaheri honored the organizing committee and the referees of the tournament, and distributed trophies and medals to the winning teams, where the Directorate General of Guards and Special Tasks team won first place and the championship trophy, the player Sultan Al Hammadi was recognized as top scorer of the tournament, and the guard Ali Akideh won the title of the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
