ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, September 5th 2013 [ME NewsWire]
A total of 25 trainee police officers and non-commissioned officers took advantage of the specialized training initiative for handling detainees and convicts. The training was implemented by the Punitive & Correctional Establishments Department. The officers underwent extensive training from both scientific and practical aspects; the training course focused on the key requirements for institutions and the methods of handling situations, risks, and job responsibilities.
Colonel Ateeq Ibrahim Al Dhaheri, Deputy Director of the Punitive and Correctional Establishments, said that the course’s program focused on theoretical and practical aspects that help trainees to handle detainees, with their various cultures and nationalities, in a civilized manner.
Moreover, he thanked the initiative’s thirteenth batch of graduates, for their efforts in interacting with the course, and achieving its goals. He also praised the efforts of the Training Department, the Clubs Department, the Permanent Resources Group for Training, and the Anti-Drug Section.
The Punitive & Correctional Establishments launched this initiative in 2011, within its strategic priorities related to “the optimal use of human resources.” This aims to achieve the strategic objective, so as to meet the needs of the Abu Dhabi Police personnel that are suitably qualified.
