“The total number of GCC nationals, expatriate residents and those who have obtained a visa to enter the UAE, already registered in the E-Ports Project has added up to 512,000 individuals; out of which 483,000 have registered at the arrivals hall at Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports. Another 29,000 individuals have registered during the media campaign organized by the Ministry of Interior in the cities of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain,” said Major Mohammad Ahmad Al Za’abi, Director of the E-Ports Project.
He added that the enrollment process for the E-Ports Project (E-gate) has seen a good response in Al Ain mall from individuals wishing to avail of the free e-gate registration service in the second phase of the campaign, which was launched on September 29 and concluded recently.
Major Al Zaabi also noted that a new phase of registration will be launched soon and that dates and times will be determined later. “The enrolment process is free of charge and takes no longer than 20 seconds. In order to register at the project, applicants are required to bring their original passport,” Al Zaabi stated.
He reiterated that the E-gate service aims at simplifying travel for all, and allows registration and entry or exit of children from the age of 5 years and above. It is also easy-to-use for people with disabilities.
Al Zaabi emphasized that the E-Ports Project ensures the speedy processing of passenger entry and exit through Passport Control & Immigration counters through the country’s ports within just 15 seconds.
Notably, the media campaign that is overseen by the Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the General Department of Central Operations, in coordination with the Security Media Department at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, is on-going.
The Abu Dhabi Police had provided public awareness through social media sites and giant e-screens since the opening of the registration process in Abu Dhabi, in addition to publishing material in the media.
Moreover, the Abu Dhabi Police has allocated the toll free number 8005000 to communicate with the public, in addition to its pages on the various social networking sites to answer the public’s questions and inquiries with respect to the registration process.
