ADP: Participants Graduate from 5 Courses at the Ports Security Institute


ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, October 24th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

The Ports Security Institute at the Ports and Airports Security Department affiliated to the Directorate General of Ports and Airports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police celebrated the graduation of 96 participants from five specialized one-week courses. The five courses included:  two courses in “Detection and Security Inspection using computer based simulation training (CBT),” one course in “Mail and Air Cargo Security,” an “English Language” course, and an “Airports Security Basics” course.

Colonel Matar Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director of the Institute, noted that training police staff members embodies the Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to qualify its human cadre according to international-best standards with a view to maintain pace with developments across all fields and enhance the security and safety foundation in the country.

He also revealed that the institute receives many participants on a weekly basis from police directorates and other sectors related to airports and ports to join these training courses. The courses are continuously developing by adopting modern mechanisms and attracting best lecturers to develop skills.

Colonel Al Muhairi distributed certificates to the graduates in the presence of a number of officials and officers in Abu Dhabi’s Ports and Airports Security Department. He called upon participants to remain loyal and dedicated in gratitude to the country, and to preserve its achievements.

He added that 96 participants graduated after completing five specialized courses. Among this total are 36 employees from the Abu Dhabi Customs Department who joined the “Detection and Security Inspection using computer based simulation training (CBT)” course. They were acquainted with different duties and inspection procedures; a further 26 participants joined the “Mail and Air Cargo Security” course to learn about inspection and search procedures.

He indicated that 19 participants, including two participants from Lebanon who joined the “Airports Security Basics” course trained on contacting and cooperating with airport staff in addition to many other specialized sciences. He added that 15 participant joined the “English Language” course.
