Asian Arrested for Possessing 437 Heroin Capsules in Al Ain Labor Camp

In cooperation with Dubai Police, the Abu Dhabi Police arrested an Asian worker on suspicion of possessing 437 drug capsules (heroin) weighing in about 4kg, that was found in his possession at his labor accommodation in Al Ain.

Colonel Sultan Suwayeh Al Darmaki, Chief of the Anti-Drug Section at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said that the section recently received tipoff about a Pakistani worker in possession of drugs with the intent to sell.

Colonel Al Darmaki said that the section investigated the case and validated the information. “Following concise legal proceedings, a security team was formed to track the drugs and arrest the suspect,” he continued.

Adding further, Colonel Al Darmaki explained that the mission resulted in the arrest of the suspect, identified as S.K.A, 27, even though he was exercising extreme caution, trying not to arouse suspicions. After arresting the man, the police found five heroin capsules in his vehicle; the rest of the 432 stash was seized at his accommodation in the workers camp.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to possessing the drugs with the intention to sell them, and was referred along with the seized drugs to the competent authorities to further investigate the circumstances of the case.

Colonel Al Darmaki praised the outstanding efforts of the work team in this operation, and their competency and professional skills that resulted in arresting the suspect and preventing him from achieving profit by harming community members.

In conclusion, Colonel Al Darmaki reiterated the Abu Dhabi Police commitment to fighting the drugs scourge and fostering concepts of partnership with civil society institutions. This strengthens awareness against drugs and maintains the national gains and human assets against their risks by acquainting them with the negative effects of psychotropic substances. He also noted that the citizens and residents play an instrumental role in this regard, as they provide necessary information and report suspects and law violations.
